Unfortunately this is a bit late but happy New Year. Ah yes and for those of you born in 1990, like myself, welcome to the end of our lives.
To me a 20th birthday marks nothing good. It is the end of a time when one can make stupid decisions and get away with it (although some of us may still be able to master this particularly useful talent), a time when the majority of us are out of high school and finally starting something (we are lead to believe is) useful, and a time right before we can do anything fun in the United States of America (that one doesn’t really count). To say the least the 20th birthday from a Canadian living in Ottawa is the most disappointing of all.
But hey! Let’s not carry the ‘emo-kid’ stereotype into the next decade but create something new. With this in mind I have a created a few new decade resolutions:
- Make life miserable for local politicians (especially ones who decide that proroguing parliament and cutting transit plans are a good idea),
- Have a midlife crisis in my early 20’s that preferably includes a plane ticket, a change in university program and a destination with a warm climate,
- Continue writing a blog without any real direction but with considerable improvements in regards to grammar and spelling,
- Find a way out of Kanata,
- Pass my G2 test because honestly it’s just sad that I failed it the first time,
- and live in at least two more provinces and one country,
With these in mind perhaps 2010 will not be just another year before the coming apocalypse (just kidding…really) but instead one of adventure and self discovery (wow that sounds corny).
Here is wishing all a year full of angry letters to politicians, protests on the hill, and adventures in both city and forest! Good luck everyone we’re all in this together (I love you Redgreen)
yay for 2010. I’m getting out of here too
fingers crossed. lets run away shall we
